STEP 1

During the first phase, we created HLM Solar Performance, a program that compares the solar performance of the two solar installations on the University of Iowa campus: Electriv Vehicle Charging Station array (EVC) and the CAMBUS array (bus barn)

2

STEP 2

In the second phase, we expanded phase one to perform investigations of the solar installations and analyze solar performance between different angles and times of the two lovations.

Mission

Goal

Using over 10 years of University of Iowa energy system data to programmatically investigate the performance of these solar technologies on our campus over time and in varying weather conditions.

Purpose

The university and it's energy system operator, ENGIE North America, want a solution to better understand the solar energy performance and to make decisions about solar installations on campus in the future.

Future

Sustainable energy is the future of our world. Maximizing the efficiency and performance of sustainable energy sources such as solar will only help further expedite the process of building a fully sustainable society.

First year at the hackathon

Among the four of us, this was our first Hackathon. With limited expiernce in coding and data analytics we fell short of the overall objective of solving the problem. What we gained out of this confernce out weighs the short comings. As a whole we learned collaborative team work, we also learned how to manage stress while completing a heavy task in a short amount of time.
